There are currently about 4,089 children living on the street in Ghana. There have been few intervention programs to take children off the street and provide them with a safe environment, but they haven't seen much success.
These children continue to live on our streets and survive through begging. Some of them are subjected to physical, psychological and sexual abuse and are left without a chance to be in school.
This feature story answers a number of questions and explores the root of the problem while engaging experts and stakeholders.
Hopefully, the street will not be the home for the Ghanaian child. Every child of school-going age should be in school.
