Student politicians race against time as campaign ends at 12:00am





Student politicians in the Ghana Institute of Journalism race against time as their campaigning comes to an end at 12: 00am, Friday 26th April 2019.

Almost all the WhatsApp groups used by the students are pushing the agendas of their favourite SRC aspirants. As the agendas are been pushed, the office of the E.C has issued a communique on a ban of Electoral Campaigning after a particular time. The communique issued is below.

🔔 URGENT NOTICE🔔

The Electoral Commission of GIJ-SRC will like to inform the general student populace about the Ban On Electoral Campaigning in the race to the upcoming SRC General Elections.

*NB: Campaign ends at exactly 12:00am tomorrow, Friday  26 April 2019*

This is to enable the commission move ahead with the road map designed for the upcoming SRC General Elections.

Also, in a phone interview with the E C Chairman, Mr Isaac Adu, he disclosed that, everything is set for tomorrow's election. By 5:30am, the set-up should be done. And the police will be around at 6:00am.

Another communique was issued by them to inform the electorates what to do. It had the title: WHAT TO DO AS AN ELECTORATE ON AN ELECTION DAY.

Below is the communique.

*WHAT TO DO AS AN ELECTORATE ON ELECTION DAY*

1. Come along with your student I.D Card.

2. Identify your polling station.

3. Show your I.D Card to be verified.

4. Move on to take your ballot papers from the EC official.

5. Ensure the ballot papers are stamped by the EC official to avoid it being rejected.

6. Dip your little finger into the indelible ink. (Compulsory)

7. Make sure you have received ballot papers for all portfolios.

8. Walk into any empty screen to cast your votes.

*Kindly note the following:*
1. Avoid thumb printing into two columns of two different candidates*

2. It is not compulsory to have the full length or size of your thumb to show you have voted.

3. Gently dip a small part of the thumb into the ink and vote by your preferred candidate or choice.

4. It is important to wipe your inked finger well to avoid staining the ballot paper. (To avoid ballot paper being rejected)

5. Walk to place the right ballot paper/sheet into the right ballot box.
